Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rent a coffee Vehicle?

We don’t rent vehicles but we DO offer lease purchase on all our vehicles. A lease purchase agreement is similar to buying a vehicle on “HP” but a lease purchase agreement payments can be written off against you business, and YES you DO own the vehicle at the end of the agreement. If you need a vehicle for a couple of weeks one of our team will be able to help you with event catering.

Will I be eligible for a lease vehicle?

Coffee Latino Ltd is a long established reputable company and therefore is a fully licensed Credit broker with a current consumer Credit Licence. To be eligible for a lease you MUST own your own home and the lease agreement is subject to a credit check.

If I buy a van, can I call the business whatever I want?

Of course you can! It’s totally 100% your very own business and you can call it whatever you want!

Can Coffee Latino help in the design of my van?

Absolutely! We HAVE AN IN HOUSE DESIGN TEAM that are able to take your ideas and transform them into life. We are flexible on the design and would love to hear your creative ideas!

Do I have to have the van designed by Coffee Latino?

Not if you don’t want to, all our vehicles come unbranded and you are welcome to take the vehicle away and source your own designers.

Once I buy the van, are there any more fees or ongoing costs that I need to pay?

Not a penny more to pay! We are not a franchise and therefore do not require any royalties, franchise fees, marketing fees or anything else!

I’ve never made a cup of coffee in my life! Can I still buy a Coffee Van?

Yes you can! Whilst your new van is being built, you will be taken through a barista training course. Our barista trainer is arguably one of the best trainers in the country and so by the time your vehicle is ready, you will be comfortable and confident behind the coffee machine.

Once I buy the van, how will I know where to find suppliers for my coffee, cups, lids, etc?

We can supply you with everything you need. We do not force or demand that you purchase from ourselves or our list of trusted suppliers.  As it’s your own business, you are free to choose whoever you like to be your suppliers. We are simply there to offer support and guidance along the way!

I’ve never owned my own business before and even if I buy a Coffee Van, I don’t know where to start. With getting an accountant, registering the business, getting insurance and other things, I’m totally lost. What will Coffee Latino do to help me and make the whole experience easier?

We want you to be a success! Coffee Latino understands that purchasing a new business can be a nervous and stressful time for people. For this reason, we endeavour to make the whole process as smooth as possible. Whilst the van is being built, we can organise your business registration, accounting, insurance (and everything else!) for you if you wish. Some clients prefer to handle these things themselves (which is fine), but if you would like support and assistance, we are glad to help in any way we can.

How long will it take for my van to be totally ready?

Generally 3 to 4 weeks. It can be a quicker process; however it depends on how many other vans we are building at the time. This time period can be used to visit our training centre and learn some barista skills and business training.

I’ve looked at some Franchises and I’ve noticed that there are Territories for drivers. I would like to operate in more than one area…is this possible?

We don’t believe in territories…and we definitely do not want to restrict our clients in any way, shape or form! You are entitled to operate your business in any location you wish! Why would we restrict you from working where there is money to be made?? You are a free and independent business, and we will support you wherever you choose to operate.

Can I open my doors and start selling coffee or do I need a licence?

This is a question we get asked every day, It is always best to speak to your local council as the licencing dept will be able to help you with what is needed for your area. Every council has different rules and regulations.  If you do this and cant seem to get anywhere then by all means talk to us and we can give them a nudge for you. There are of course markets, shows, carbootsales, business estates that will not be owned/ran by your local council in which case you need to speak to the market manager/private land owner.

I’ve looked at some conversions on the market and they require the gas to stand outside or be removed from inside the vehicle, Do Coffee Latino have an alternative?

Yes! Under NO circumstances should your gas bottle have to stand outside or even be removed from the vehicle, sit under the vehicle or go through the front window and sit in the cab,  Any conversion using these methods is Not only is this Highly Dangerous BUT going against the manufacturers clear instructions for use. If you inform your council you want to trade with a bottle of Liquid petroleum gas bottle on the pavement expect to be laughed out of the council office, If you are advised to put the bottle in the front cab not only is this extremely dangerous but its where the electrics are for the vehicle and worst of all the ignition where any gas leak in there and the consequences could be disastrous. All our LPG conversions are built in to the vehicle don’t require flexi hoses running across the vehicle, and are TOTALLY self contained.  We use a refillable gas tank, in Just the same way as filling your vehicle at a filling station. For a safer, cleaner, cheaper and legally certified conversion ring coffee Latino the mobile experts.

Will I get a gas certificate?

Yes you will, An LPG espresso machine requires fitting from a com cat 2 engineer, A LPG corgi, gas safe registered LPG fitter IS NOT enough. An espresso machine has a steam generating boiler and as such requires a certificate above and beyond a normal LPG certificate, paperwork from the machine manufactures now states ALL machine MUST be fitted ONLY by a COMCAT2 qualified engineer, Talk to us the UK’s most experienced coffee converters.

What sort of profits can I make?

Example costings:
We sell freshly roasted coffee from £6.95 per kilo
1 kilo of beans will make you 130 espresso’s, so let’s say you sell an espresso at £1 each, that’s £130 from your bag of coffee. Obviously you will be selling cappuccino and latte for £1.50+, meaning more profit and also upselling double shots, mochas and syrups for a larger profit margin. As one of the largest suppliers of Ripple Cups and Barista supplies in the UK you can rest assure with Coffee Latino you have the lowest prices and highest profit.
